PLEASANT GROVE, Utah — A 9-year-old boy tragically lost his life after being struck by a truck while entering a crosswalk in Pleasant Grove on Tuesday afternoon. The incident occurred at approximately 4 p.m. at the intersection of 2600 North and 900 West.
Authorities reported that the boy was on his way home from school when the crash took place. The truck, which was turning onto 2600 North, struck the child as he crossed the street. According to officials, the boy was carrying a bicycle and wearing a helmet, though it is unclear whether he was walking or riding the bike at the time.

Witnesses described the driver as an older man in a white truck with a handicap placard. Some reported seeing the driver leave the scene shortly after the crash. Authorities were able to locate and identify the driver, and Sgt. Shumway indicated that the man was being questioned by investigators. As of now, no charges have been filed, and the driver has not been taken into custody.
The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to piece together the events leading up to the tragedy. Sgt. Shumway emphasized the busy nature of 2600 North, noting that traffic has increased in the area as development has grown. He urged both drivers and pedestrians to remain vigilant when navigating the road, particularly in areas with heavy foot and vehicle traffic.
