OGDEN, Utah – The environmental agenda does not stop in a pandemic. On the contrary, it becomes even more pressing. Today the World Environmental Education Day is celebrated and, from this afternoon until Friday, the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development of the Nation, in charge of Juan Cabandié, organized such that it contemplates a series of virtual activities that invite reflection on topics such as composting, sustainable use of biodiversity with a gender perspective, fire management, climate change and conservation. All talks are open to the public and can be followed at YouTube channel live streams from the portfolio.
Today from the 17 three environmental promoters of the Argentine Federation of Cartoneros, Carreros y Recicladores (FACCYR) will talk about their experiences on community composting and will show in a simple way how to build a compost bin. The workshop will be introduced by the referent of popular feminism, Jackie Flores, with a previous presentation by Cristina Ruiz del Ferrier, Interjurisdictional and Interinstitutional Undersecretary, and the area advisor, María Alejandra Romeo.
This Wednesday there will be two activities. The first, on Wednesday, is at 5 p.m. and will deal with the sustainable use of biodiversity with a gender perspective. It will be presented by Silvana Pecker and two referents of the project for the sustainable use of biodiversity (USUBI) of the National Environment portfolio, together with chef Fernando Rivarola. Next, Mónica Vásquez, from the Patagonia Regional Coordination of the National Fire Management Service, gives the talk « Better to be safe than out ».
On Thursday, also at 5 pm, the Ministry proposes to inquire about climate change. After a presentation of trivia and videos, María Luz Falivene Fernández and María Lourdes Manrique, both from the National Directorate of Climate Change, will present this problem in a didactic way.
The last day, on Friday 29, will begin at 5:00 p.m. with the exhibition of the National Parks Administration of an animated audiovisual short about conservation corridors. Later, María Sol Azcona, specialist in Environmental Education from the Ministry of the Environment, will present “Environmental Education: opportunities in a socio-environmental and health crisis scenario. A state policy ”. That day, at 6:00 p.m., the Minister of Environment and Sustainable Development, Juan Cabandié, will close this week to learn, become aware and participate.
