Ogden, UT — The 2025 Utah Expungement Summit, organized by the SEG Foundation, the National Basketball Social Justice Coalition, Clean Slate Utah, and Rasa Legal, is set to take place on January 22 at the Delta Center. The event, running from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m., aims to assist Utah residents in clearing their criminal records at no cost.
Now in its second year, the summit is expected to provide essential resources and expert legal support to individuals seeking to expunge their criminal records. Volunteers from Clean Slate Utah and Rasa Legal will be on hand to help attendees determine their eligibility for expungement and guide them through the process.
The event will also offer the opportunity for eligible individuals to meet with volunteer attorneys, complete applications through the Bureau of Criminal Identification (BCI), and connect with community resources and potential employment opportunities.
Noella Sudbury, founder of Rasa Legal, expressed enthusiasm about the summit’s impact, noting that more than 1,000 people have already registered for this year’s event, a significant increase from the previous year’s attendance. “Our goal is that we turn no one away,” Sudbury said. “It is life-changing to get your record expunged. For people who get this done, it’s like having your freedom back, it’s like having your dignity back. It means better jobs and a fresh start.”
The summit reflects a growing effort to provide accessible legal support and promote second chances for individuals seeking to overcome past mistakes and rebuild their futures. For many, having a criminal record expunged can open doors to improved job prospects, housing opportunities, and an overall better quality of life.
