Clearfield, Utah – Clearfield High School was placed on lockdown briefly Monday afternoon after an unruly student was detained. The lockdown, which began at 1:55 p.m. on February 3, lasted for approximately nine minutes before being lifted, according to officials with the Davis School District.
Chris Williams, a spokesperson for the district, confirmed the lockdown was implemented as a precautionary measure when a student was being restrained. The incident took place just before the end of the school day, but the situation was resolved quickly with no injuries reported.
During the lockdown, both inside and outside doors at the high school were secured, and students remained in their classrooms. Meanwhile, two nearby schools—North Davis Junior High School and South Clearfield Elementary School—also enacted “secure protocols” between 2:01 p.m. and 2:03 p.m. These protocols involved locking outside doors while school activities continued as normal.
Williams stated that the brief lockdown and secure protocols were part of standard safety measures, designed to ensure student security during unexpected situations. However, he did not release any additional details about the nature of the student’s behavior or the specifics surrounding the incident.
By 2:04 p.m., the lockdown was lifted, and the high school resumed normal operations. No further disruptions were reported, and district officials are continuing to review the situation.
