UTAH – The Equal Rights Amendment is returning to Utah’s Capitol Hill, reigniting a political battle. Sen. Kathleen Riebe, D-Cottonwood Heights, has introduced Senate Joint Resolution 8, which would have Utah ratify the Equal Rights Amendment. The language of the ERA states: “The right of citizens of the United States shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of sex.” As more states ratify it, the United States Congress would consider it for the U.S. Constitution. OGDEN, Utah — Ogden police will announce the retirement of Chief Randy Watt on Tuesday, as well as introduce his successor. “On Dec. 29, at 11 a.m., Ogden City Mayor Mike Caldwell will be conducting a press conference to announce the retirement of Ogden Police Chief Randy Watt,” said a late afternoon news release from Ogden PD Monday. “Following that announcement, Mayor Caldwell will introduce the new Ogden police chief.” Officials have not said who Watt’s successor will be.
