Ogden, UT – The Ogden City Police Department is honoring the life and service of an officer who was killed in the line of duty more than a decade ago while protecting the community. Agent Jared Daniel Francom was critically injured on the evening of January 4, 2012, while assisting with a drug-related search warrant at a residence on Jackson Avenue. He died shortly after midnight on January 5, 2012. Five other officers from multiple agencies were also injured during the incident. Ogden, UT – The Ogden Fire Department participated in the grand opening of the Utah Firefighter Health & Wellness Center, part of the Utah Firefighter Cancer Initiative. The new facility represents the nation’s most comprehensive firefighter cancer screening program. Supported by the Utah Legislature, the program will provide screenings for more than 500 firefighters annually, aiming to detect and prevent cancer—the leading line-of-duty cause of death among firefighters. The department expressed gratitude to everyone who contributed to making the milestone possible and reaffirmed its commitment to firefighter health and safety.
