RIVERTON, Utah — A 16-year-old boy was taken into custody Wednesday evening after allegedly shooting his uncle three times following an argument, authorities said. Officers with the Riverton Police Department responded to a report of a shooting at approximately 6:30 p.m. near 13480 South Homestead Lane. According to police spokesperson Josh Lee, the suspect and his 35-year-old uncle were involved in a verbal dispute that escalated outside, spilling into the front yard. SALT LAKE CITY, Utah — A University of Utah student-athlete has been charged with several felony counts in connection with an alleged sexual assault that took place in November 2024. Berk Bugarikj, 21, a tennis player and scholarship student from Skopje, Macedonia, was formally charged Tuesday in Salt Lake County with three counts of first-degree felony rape, two counts of first-degree forcible sodomy, and one count of first-degree object rape, according to court documents.
