MIDVALE, Utah — A 17-year-old high school student tragically lost their life in a car accident on Saturday afternoon. The incident occurred just after 12:45 p.m. on Fort Union Boulevard, as two teenagers were traveling westbound in an SUV. According to the Unified Police Department, the driver, a student from Hillcrest High School, swerved to avoid another vehicle on the road. The incident unfolded at Scott Cowdell Park, located at 8920 South and 120 East, when a witness reported seeing a man, later identified as Victor Anthony Tapia, a registered sex offender, openly masturbating in the bushes near a canal adjacent to the park.
