EDEN, Utah – Two people were injured in a serious crash on Powder Mountain Road Tuesday afternoon. The incident occurred at approximately 3:30 p.m. on January 16 near 5300 North, when the driver of a box truck reportedly lost control of the vehicle. The truck veered off the road and collided with the mountain, ejecting both the driver and passenger.
Responding quickly to the scene, Weber Fire District personnel assisted the injured individuals, transporting them to the hospital. One was airlifted via an Intermountain Life Flight medical helicopter, while the other was taken by ambulance for treatment.
As emergency crews worked to clear the scene, Powder Mountain Road was closed for roughly one hour, causing significant traffic delays. One lane has since been reopened, though authorities indicated it could take up to two hours before the remaining lanes are cleared.
In addition to Weber Fire District and LifeFlight, the Weber County Sheriff’s Office, Utah Highway Patrol, and other local agencies responded to the scene. Several citizens also stopped to assist the injured, and Lt. Colby Ryan of the Weber County Sheriff’s Office expressed gratitude in a press release, thanking both the citizens who helped and the responding agencies for their support during the incident.
The cause of the crash is under investigation. Authorities have yet to release the identities of those involved.
