SALT LAKE CITY, UT — A motorcyclist died late Sunday night after being struck by a driver who ran a stop sign and fled the scene, Salt Lake City Police Department officials confirmed.
The collision occurred at the intersection of 2100 South and 400 East. According to police, the driver failed to stop and yield to oncoming traffic before hitting the motorcycle.
Authorities have not released details about the suspect vehicle or the identity of the motorcyclist.
The Salt Lake City Police Department closed the road temporarily as their major crash team conducted an investigation at the scene.
Police are actively searching for the driver responsible and urge anyone with information to come forward.
