West Valley City, UTAH – In an interaction with police in West Valley City on Sunday afternoon, a suspect in an earlier incident was shot and injured.
Officers arrived at 1:09 p.m. to reports of a person shot on S. Redwood Road. The 41-year-old victim was brought to the hospital in excellent condition with non-life threatening injuries.
According to police, the original gunfire happened following an altercation between the two males over a suspected theft. The man was treated at the spot after a bullet grazed his skull.
An officer then encountered the male suspect at the Indoor Swap Meet at 1500 W. 3500 South.
The cop fired bullets at some point during the altercation. The suspect was struck and brought to the hospital in critical condition.
A pistol was discovered at the site, which authorities think belonged to the suspect.
It is yet unknown if the suspect fired any shots.
