Ogden, UT – The Ogden Police Department is preparing to honor the memory of fallen Officer Nathan Lyday with the dedication of the newly completed field house at the Marshall N. White Community Center. The event will take place on August 14, 2025, at 4 p.m. at the center, located at 222 28th Street, and will include remarks from city and police leaders, as well as members of Officer Lyday’s family.
Officer Lyday, who was killed in the line of duty in May 2020 while responding to a domestic violence call, is remembered by colleagues and the Ogden community for his dedication and service. The decision to name the field house in his honor reflects the department’s ongoing commitment to preserve his legacy.
According to organizers, the dedication ceremony will feature comments from the Ogden mayor, the chair of the city council, Ogden Police Chief Eric Young, and relatives of Officer Lyday. Following the formal program, community members are invited to stay for food and a variety of activities organized by the department and the Marshall N. White Community Center.
The field house, located on the grounds of the historic community center, will serve as a multipurpose space for youth programs, sports, and community gatherings. Officials said naming the facility after Officer Lyday was a fitting tribute to a man who cared deeply about service and worked hard to make a difference in the city he served.
The Ogden Police Department has invited residents to attend the dedication event to show support and celebrate the opening of the new field house. Organizers said they hope the occasion will highlight both Officer Lyday’s sacrifice and the positive impact the new space will have on the community.
