Ogden, UT – The Ogden City Police Department is honoring the life and service of an officer who was killed in the line of duty more than a decade ago while protecting the community.
Agent Jared Daniel Francom was critically injured on the evening of January 4, 2012, while assisting with a drug-related search warrant at a residence on Jackson Avenue. He died shortly after midnight on January 5, 2012. Five other officers from multiple agencies were also injured during the incident.
Francom served with the Ogden City Police Department for seven years and was assigned to the Weber-Morgan Narcotics Strike Force at the time of his death. His work focused on combating illegal drug activity and improving public safety throughout the region.
His death had a lasting impact on both the department and the broader Ogden community. In 2013, the Ogden Public Safety Building was renamed the Francom Public Safety Building in his honor, serving as a daily reminder of his sacrifice and dedication.
Thirteen years after his death, department officials said Francom’s legacy continues to influence those who work within the building and serve the community he protected. His end of watch was recorded as January 5, 2012, and his service remains remembered by the department and the city of Ogden.
