Ogden, UT— A pedestrian was fatally struck by a vehicle Monday afternoon near the intersection of Wall Avenue and 33rd Street in Ogden. The Ogden Police Department responded to the incident at approximately 4 p.m. after receiving reports of the crash.
Upon arrival, officers found a deceased man at the scene. Initial investigations indicate that the pedestrian was in a designated crosswalk when he was hit, though it appears the crosswalk signals were not being used properly at the time of the accident. Authorities have not confirmed whether the signals were malfunctioning or if the pedestrian was crossing at an inappropriate time.
The driver of the vehicle involved in the crash fled the scene but was located by police a short distance away. The driver is reportedly cooperating with investigators.
