SALT LAKE CITY, Utah — South Jordan Police have identified a third adult male involved in online communications with missing 15-year-old Alisa Petrov, who disappeared from American Fork on April 21, 2025. Authorities have revealed that 41-year-old Samuel Mitchell of Herriman, Utah, was engaged in private Discord conversations with the teen in the weeks leading up to her disappearance.
According to a search warrant obtained by 2News, investigators uncovered the disturbing messages between Mitchell and Petrov after discovering a hidden iPad in the teen’s bedroom. The warrant was issued specifically for Mitchell’s phone.
“The last message sent from the juvenile to Mitchell was on 04/19/2024 at 0034 hours,” a South Jordan Police detective wrote in the warrant affidavit. In the message, Petrov told Mitchell, “IM RUNNING AWAY, please don’t contact me.”
Detectives say the communications between Mitchell—who used the screen name “samitch”—and Petrov were extensive and, at times, sexual in nature. The teen reportedly asked Mitchell multiple times to kidnap her and even provided potential meeting locations, including Alta Ski Resort. Petrov was confirmed to have been at the resort just hours before leaving her school in American Fork and vanishing.
“The juvenile requested multiple times for ‘samitch’ to kidnap her, and provided him locations she was going to be,” the detective wrote, citing the conversations obtained through digital evidence.
The messages also included sexually explicit content, with references to games such as “couples twister” and “sex monopoly.” While officers believe images may have been exchanged between the two, no child sexual abuse material (CSAM) was located on either Petrov’s or Mitchell’s Discord accounts. Investigators suspect the two may have also communicated via Snapchat, complicating efforts to recover evidence.
When asked by Petrov whether they would meet in person, Mitchell reportedly responded that he had become “really sick,” avoiding the meetup. Despite the sexually suggestive nature of the exchanges and the references to a possible meeting, no direct evidence of physical contact has been reported.
Petrov remains listed as missing and endangered. She was last seen in the Provo area. Authorities continue to pursue leads in her disappearance, and Mitchell’s involvement remains under investigation.
