OGDEN, Utah — On Tuesday, with just over two days to prepare, the District 10 seat in the Utah House of Representatives will be occupied by a new face — Rosemary Lesser. After former Rep. LaWanna “Lou” Shurtliff’s death in December, 20 people submitted their names to replace her in the only district north of Salt Lake County held by Democrats. Some withdrew their names, others were deemed ineligible, and that number was eventually whittled down to eight.

OGDEN, Utah — Police say they arrested an impaired driver who slammed into the back of a vehicle that was stopped at a light in Ogden, killing the driver. Just after 9 p.m. Sunday, a Hyundai Santa Fe traveling at a high rate of speed hit a Mitsubishi Lancer stopped at a red light at the intersection of 12th Street and Washington Boulevard in Ogden, according to Ogden police. A 39-year-old woman driving the Lancer was killed. Her name was not immediately released pending notification of family members.
