OGDEN, Utah — Police say they arrested an impaired driver who slammed into the back of a vehicle that was stopped at a light in Ogden, killing the driver.
Just after 9 p.m. Sunday, a Hyundai Santa Fe traveling at a high rate of speed hit a Mitsubishi Lancer stopped at a red light at the intersection of 12th Street and Washington Boulevard in Ogden, according to Ogden police. A 39-year-old woman driving the Lancer was killed. Her name was not immediately released pending notification of family members.
Bryce Owens, 29, of Hooper, is suspected of impairment and distracted driving, according to a statement from the Ogden Police Department. He was arrested on an outstanding warrant.
Owens was convicted of attempted theft in 2019. A warrant was issued or his arrest in October for failing to comply with the conditions of his probation, according to court records.
