Ogden, UT – The Ogden Police Department is celebrating the success of its inaugural Helmets & Heroes event, which brought together families, community organizations and local leaders for a day focused on bicycle safety and community engagement.
According to the department, the event drew a large turnout and featured support from the Weber-Morgan Health Department Safe Kids Weber-Morgan program, Bike Utah, the Ogden Bicycle Collective, Ogden City Council members and the Ogden Fire Department.
City council members participated by presenting the award for the best-decorated bicycle, while Ogden Fire Department mascots Boots and Sparks entertained attendees throughout the event.
Police officials said the event highlighted the importance of community partnerships and creating opportunities for residents to connect with first responders in a fun and educational setting.
“This is exactly what community looks like,” the department said. “Coming together, looking out for each other, and having a whole lot of fun doing it.”
The Ogden Police Department thanked everyone who attended and helped organize the event, expressing appreciation to its community partners for contributing to the successful launch of what officials hope will become a recurring community tradition.
