Mother faced backlash after being accused of using Photoshop on her eight-year-old daughter’s body to make her more “attractive.” The woman’s images have since gone viral on Reddit under the threat InsaneParents, earning the exposing post over 51,000 upvotes and 3,000 comments from outraged users from all over the world.
The image in the Reddit post was taken from a mother’s Facebook post. The post discusses the children’s first day of school and shows three children lined up in grade order. “First day of first, fourth, and sixth grade!” the caption read. How?!” While a first-day-of-school photo would normally elicit a slew of pleasant comments from people of all stripes, this post sparked outrage because the mother used Photoshop to make her eight-year-old daughter’s physique appear more sexually appealing to viewers of the photograph.
A closer look of the image indicates that the physique of the little girl has been digitally altered. The inward curving of her arms suggests that the mother used a tool to magnify the girl’s hips while slimming her abdomen to make her look “hotter.” “This woman constantly photoshops her daughter’s body to look like this. She’s E I G H T,” the original poster wrote in the title of the now-viral Reddit post.
The alleged parent “adamantly denies” using digital technology to make her eight-year-old daughter look more se-ually desirable, according to the original Reddit user. Instead, the mother claims that her child “simply looks like that” on any given day.
“Then she deletes the comments,” the Reddit user reported.
Several Reddit users have doubted the authenticity of the post and questioned whether the mom was really editing her daughter’s body in such a way. In response to the doubters, the person who posted the content on Reddit said that they had reached out to moderators to make sure that what they said was true and to show the mother how awful it is that she is sexualizing her little girl for Facebook users to see.
“I’ve messaged the mods here … offering a direct link proving the legitimacy of this post,” the poster explained in a comment. “I am NOT willing to post that publicly so please don’t ask.”
“That poor girl is going to suffer serious childhood trauma and have mental and body issues as an adult,” one Redditor wrote. “This is the most insane thing I’ve seen on here,” another user commented. “Who’s this lady fooling? No one’s arms look like that. I legitimately laughed at the s***** photoshop, TBH,” commented another Redditor. “This is straight-up abuse,” wrote another user.
