TOOELE, Utah — A school bus collided with a truck Tuesday afternoon, injuring three people, including two students, according to the Tooele City Police Department.
At approximately 1:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to 725 North Main Street following reports of the crash. Authorities said a southbound truck had stopped for a pedestrian crossing when the school bus, traveling behind, rear-ended the vehicle with significant force. The impact was strong enough to cause pieces of metal from the truck to strike the bus’s front windshield.
The driver of the truck, a 46-year-old man from West Valley, was transported to a local hospital with injuries described as stable. Two students who were on the bus were evaluated at the scene by medical personnel but were released shortly afterward without requiring further treatment.
No other injuries were reported in the incident.
The school bus driver, whose identity has not been disclosed, was cited at the scene for following the truck too closely, an offense under Utah traffic laws.
The incident remains under investigation, but authorities emphasized the importance of maintaining proper distance while driving, particularly when stopped behind other vehicles.
