OGDEN, Utah — The Ogden Police Department recently hosted a Law Enforcement Bike Association (LEBA) training program, bringing together officers from agencies across northern Utah to receive certification as bike patrol officers.
According to the department, the training provided officers with the skills and certification needed to serve in bike patrol roles within their communities.
Police officials said bike patrol officers play an important role in community policing by maintaining a visible presence and allowing officers to navigate parks, trails, special events, and other busy areas more easily than traditional patrol vehicles.
The department noted that bicycle patrols also create opportunities for officers to interact directly with residents and strengthen relationships within the community.
The Ogden Police Department congratulated the newly certified bike officers and encouraged residents to greet bike patrol officers when they encounter them throughout the city this summer.
Officials said the training helped prepare officers from multiple agencies to better serve their communities while enhancing public safety and community engagement.
