OGDEN, Utah — A mother and daughter are grieving after a woman was found shot and left to die in the middle of an Ogden street on Wednesday night.
Nakeena Youngman, 40, was discovered lying in the road near 800 North 400 East shortly after 9 p.m. She had suffered a single gunshot wound to her left upper chest. The Ogden Police Department responded to the scene, and investigators quickly cordoned off the area with yellow tape. Video footage from a neighbor showed flashing police lights and the ongoing investigation.
Youngman’s daughter, Adrianna Lopez, expressed her heartache over the sudden loss of her mother. “My mom didn’t deserve this. She still had many years ahead of her that were just taken from her in the blink of an eye,” Lopez said, fighting back tears.
Youngman, who was described as the life of the party and the center of attention, leaves behind five children and one granddaughter. Lopez, visibly emotional, recalled how her mother’s love for her granddaughter was unwavering. “She has a granddaughter that she loved and adored,” Lopez said. “My mom was always the center of attention. She was always the life of the party. I love you, Mom, forever and always, and you’ll get the justice you deserve.”
The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain unclear, and the Ogden Police Department has not released any further details. Authorities confirmed that the shooting is an “active investigation” but have not identified any suspects or leads at this time. Police also emphasized that there does not appear to be any ongoing danger to the public.
While the investigation continues, the family is pleading for justice and answers. “We just want to know what happened to our mom,” Lopez added. “She didn’t deserve this.”
