GARLAND, Utah — Traffic was significantly delayed on the northbound lanes of Interstate 15 in Box Elder County Tuesday afternoon after a semi truck collided with a farm tractor on the shoulder of the highway.
The crash occurred around 2 p.m. near mile marker 382 in Garland, approximately two miles north of the I-84 interchange. According to Lieutenant Cameron Roden with the Utah Highway Patrol, the farm tractor had been driving along the right shoulder of the interstate but was partially blocking the right lane at the time of the accident.
It remains unclear whether the tractor was actively working in the shoulder area or was simply using the interstate to reach a destination. Authorities did not provide further details on the tractor’s purpose at the time of the crash.
The collision scattered debris across both lanes of the highway, prompting the closure of the road until crews were able to clear a path. While the left lane on the northbound side was blocked, officials worked swiftly to reopen one lane for traffic. As of 4 p.m., the Utah Highway Patrol confirmed that the road had reopened to motorists, though drivers were still advised to remain cautious while the scene was fully cleared.
Despite the significant disruption, officials confirmed that no injuries were reported from the crash. The incident has raised concerns about the safety of agricultural vehicles on the state’s busy interstates, but no further details on the cause of the crash were released.
The Utah Highway Patrol continues to investigate the incident, and local authorities are urging drivers to stay alert for future updates on road conditions.
