SANDY, Utah — A significant power outage has left more than 6,000 customers without electricity in Sandy and surrounding areas. The outage, caused by a damaged power line, has disrupted service to a large portion of the community.
Rocky Mountain Power, the utility company responsible for the area, confirmed the issue and is currently working to restore power to affected customers. The company has provided an estimated time of restoration, with power expected to be fully restored by 1 p.m. on Wednesday.
While the cause of the damage remains unclear, crews are on the scene, diligently working to repair the line and bring power back online. In the meantime, residents in the affected areas are encouraged to take precautions and be prepared for potential delays, as outages of this nature can sometimes take longer than initially estimated to resolve.
Local authorities are urging residents to stay updated on the situation through official channels, including Rocky Mountain Power’s outage map and customer service notifications. The company has not yet confirmed whether the outage is related to weather conditions or another issue.
As the outage continues into the afternoon, the utility company is advising those without power to avoid downed lines and report any hazards they may encounter.
