Ogden, UT – The Ogden City Fire Department reminded residents that a citywide ban on personal fireworks remained in effect as firefighters increased patrols across the city during the Fourth of July holiday weekend.
According to the department, crews conducted enhanced patrols throughout Ogden, with additional attention focused on the foothill and east bench neighborhoods because of extremely dry conditions and an elevated wildfire risk.
To help reduce fire hazards, parking lots at Beus Pond, 29th Street and 9th Street were closed after dark on Friday and Saturday during the holiday weekend. Officials also noted that the 22nd Street trail access remained under construction and was closed to vehicle traffic.
Fire officials urged residents to celebrate safely and find alternatives to personal fireworks while commemorating the nation’s 250th anniversary.
The department also shared a photo of a fire caused by fireworks during last year’s Independence Day celebrations, noting that the blaze damaged nearby homes. Officials said the image serves as a reminder of the risks fireworks can pose, especially during periods of dry weather.
“We love Ogden. We love our Ogden community. Please help us protect it,” the department said.
The Ogden City Fire Department thanked residents for their cooperation and emphasized that preventing fireworks-related fires remains a top priority during periods of heightened fire danger.
