TAYLORSVILLE, Utah — Icy road conditions led to the temporary closure of parts of Bangerter Highway early Saturday morning, creating hazardous driving conditions for motorists in the Taylorsville area.
According to the Taylorsville Police Department, the southbound lanes of the highway were closed from 4700 South to 6200 South due to the slick, icy surface caused by a storm that moved into northern Utah overnight. The closure lasted for several hours, but the lanes were reopened around 10 a.m., allowing traffic to resume.
Authorities advised motorists to exercise caution as they traveled, urging them to slow down and be mindful of the dangerous conditions. The storm that impacted the region brought with it significant moisture, leading to icy patches that posed risks for those on the road.
While the closure has since been lifted, law enforcement and weather officials continue to warn of possible ongoing hazardous driving conditions in the aftermath of the storm. Drivers are encouraged to stay updated on local weather reports and take extra precautions when navigating icy roads.
