Ogden, UT — A 26-year-old man from Ogden is facing multiple charges after a series of reckless driving incidents on Friday evening, including a fatal crash that resulted in the death of a pedestrian. Tyson Bryce Treasure was arrested on December 27 following a chaotic sequence of events that began with his escape from detoxification treatment at Ogden Regional Medical Center.
According to arrest documents, Treasure arrived at the hospital intoxicated and, after refusing treatment, fled the scene. While leaving the hospital parking lot, he reportedly struck at least one vehicle but did not stop to provide assistance. Hospital staff promptly informed law enforcement of the suspected driver, and police were soon on alert.
Treasure’s reckless driving escalated as he fled north through Ogden. Reports from multiple callers indicated erratic driving, including additional hit-and-run accidents. Law enforcement was able to locate Treasure’s vehicle near 40th and Adams, but when officers attempted to stop him, he ignored their signals and continued driving, prompting them to discontinue the pursuit.
Shortly after, Treasure ran a red light at 12th and Harrison, T-boning another vehicle at an intersection. The driver of the other car was pinned inside and sustained major injuries. Treasure continued driving through the city, running another red light at 20th and Harrison, where his vehicle collided with two cars stopped at the intersection. One of the cars was pushed into the path of a pedestrian who was crossing the street, and the pedestrian was struck and later died in the hospital.
The crashes did not stop there. Treasure rammed into more vehicles at 42nd and Harrison before performing an illegal U-turn and fleeing the scene again. No injuries were reported in this final incident.
Officers apprehended Treasure shortly after and noted the smell of alcohol on his breath. During questioning, Treasure admitted to drinking earlier in the day. Authorities obtained a warrant for a blood draw, and police later confirmed that Treasure had been driving under the influence at the time of the crashes.
Treasure was arrested and booked into the Weber County Jail on 12 charges, including one count of driving under the influence, a class B misdemeanor; one count of failure to remain at an accident involving death, a third-degree felony; and four counts of reckless driving. Other charges include failure to stop after an accident resulting in serious injury and automobile homicide by criminal negligence, among others.
The investigation into the incidents is ongoing, and Treasure is currently being held in jail awaiting further legal proceedings.
