Ogden, Utah — Two individuals were transported to the hospital following a serious crash on Powder Mountain Road earlier this week. According to the Weber County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred on January 16 at approximately 3:30 p.m.
Deputies responded to reports of a crash near 5300 North Powder Mountain Road, where they found a box truck that had lost control. The vehicle veered off the road and crashed into the mountain after going into the right shoulder.
Both the driver and the passenger were ejected from the truck due to the severity of the crash. Emergency responders from the Weber Fire District quickly arrived at the scene. One of the injured individuals was flown by Intermountain Life Flight medical helicopter, while the other was transported by ambulance to receive treatment for their injuries.
As crews worked to clear the scene, Powder Mountain Road was closed for about an hour. One lane was eventually reopened, though traffic remained slow as responders continued to address the situation. It is expected to take up to two hours for the remaining lanes to fully reopen.
The Weber County Sheriff’s Office expressed appreciation for the help provided by citizens who stopped to assist at the scene, as well as the efforts of Weber Fire District, LifeFlight, and the Utah Highway Patrol.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the cause of the crash.
