CEDAR CITY, Utah — Two individuals were hospitalized early Wednesday morning after a driver allegedly crossed into oncoming traffic and crashed into several parked vehicles.
At approximately 3:30 a.m., Cedar City Police and emergency personnel were dispatched to the scene along SR-56 near 2700 West following reports of the crash. Upon arrival, officers discovered that the vehicle had veered off the road, striking multiple unoccupied vehicles parked on the side.
Initial investigations suggest that the driver of the vehicle lost control, swerving into oncoming traffic before leaving the roadway and colliding with the parked cars. Both the driver and passenger were injured in the incident. The driver was transported to Cedar City Hospital for treatment, while the passenger sustained more serious injuries and was airlifted to Intermountain St. George Regional Hospital.
Authorities have not yet disclosed the cause of the crash, and the investigation remains ongoing. The condition of both individuals has not been updated as of this report.
No one was present in the parked vehicles at the time of the crash, preventing further injuries. However, the incident has raised concerns about the safety of the roadway, especially at such late hours when visibility is reduced.
Local law enforcement is urging anyone with information related to the crash to come forward as they continue their investigation into the cause of the collision.
