RIVERDALE, Utah — The search for an 86-year-old man who had gone missing earlier this week ended in tragedy when his body was discovered in the Weber River. Edward Bovero, who had been reported missing on Monday morning, was found submerged in the river by search teams.
According to Riverdale Police Chief Casey Warren, Bovero’s body was recovered after an extensive search involving the Riverdale Police Department, Weber County Search and Rescue, and the Weber County Sheriff’s Office. The search had been concentrated around the Weber River area, as Bovero was known to frequent the location.
Bovero had been reported missing by family members, who expressed concerns over his physical and mental health, particularly his oxygen dependency. The elderly man had left his home without his oxygen tank, heightening fears for his safety. The family also noted the potential impact of inclement weather moving into the area.
A Silver Alert was issued by the Riverdale Police Department early Monday morning, prompting a swift and coordinated search effort. Despite these efforts, Bovero’s body was found submerged in the Weber River. Authorities did not specify how long he had been dead prior to his discovery.
At this time, investigators do not suspect foul play. The case remains under investigation, though authorities believe the circumstances may have been related to Bovero’s health and the challenging conditions at the time.
The Riverdale community has expressed its condolences to the family, as the loss of Bovero has left many heartbroken. Local officials continue to offer support to the grieving family during this difficult time.
