OGDEN, Utah – An Ogden man was charged with a third-degree felony in connection with a crash that killed a pedestrian last summer.
According to court documents, 37-year-old Jesus Hernandez, of Ogden, was driving on the 3100 block of Washington Boulevard around 3 a.m. on June 5 when he hit a pedestrian in the street, slowed, then left the scene.
“Jesus admitted that he knew he hit a person but failed to stop,” the document said. “He made no attempt to stop and render aid to the pedestrian. He made no attempt to stop and leave his information. He made no attempt to call 911 to report the crash or to summons medical personnel to check on the pedestrian,” according to the court document.
Hernandez said he called family and friends and told them he hit the pedestrian and he needed to return to the scene. The document said Hernandez was back on the scene about 15 minutes later but by then the pedestrian had been pronounced dead.
