Ogden, UT — As the 2024 election season draws to a close, attention in Weber County is already shifting to the 2025 election cycle, particularly for the Ogden City Council. Four of the city’s council members—Angela Choberka (District 1), Ken Richey (District 3), Marcia White (at-large Seat A), and Bart Blair (at-large Seat B)—are entering the final year of their current terms, with the upcoming election season already on the horizon.

Councilmember Ken Richey, who currently serves as the council chair and is completing his first term, has confirmed plans to run for re-election in 2025. In an email to the Standard-Examiner, Richey reflected on his time in office, noting the substantial growth in his understanding of the city’s governance and the council’s decision-making processes. His leadership role, having served as Vice Chair in the previous year and as Chair this year, has afforded him the opportunity to work closely with Ogden’s mayor, Mike Nadolski, and the city administration.

Richey emphasized that Ogden is currently undergoing significant planning that will shape the future direction of the city. “The experience I’ve gained during my first term will help me be even more effective in making the difficult decisions that will come in my second term,” he stated.

Bart Blair, who is completing his fourth term on the council, also confirmed that he plans to seek re-election in 2025. Blair, a long-serving council member, expressed continued enthusiasm for serving the community. In an email, he said, “At this point, I remain committed and enthusiastic about continuing to serve our community as a member of the Ogden City Council.”

In contrast, Councilmember Angela Choberka, who is finishing her second term representing District 1, has yet to decide whether she will run for a third term. When reached for comment, Choberka stated that she is still undecided about her political future.

Marcia White, who holds the at-large Seat A, was also contacted by the Standard-Examiner but did not respond by press time, leaving her plans for the upcoming election unclear.

While several current council members have made their intentions known, others may take more time to decide as the 2025 election cycle approaches. Potential candidates have until June 2-6, 2025, to file for candidacy, according to the Weber County elections page. The primary election is scheduled for August 12, with the general election set for November 4, 2025.

As the year progresses, all eyes will remain on the Ogden City Council, where the decisions made in the coming months will set the stage for a competitive election season ahead.
