Salt Lake City, UTAH – A Salt Lake City man lost his life in a tragic rollover crash in Nevada on Saturday night. Nevada Highway Patrol (NHP) troopers responded to the scene on Interstate 80 near milepost 52 in Pershing County at approximately 9:35 p.m. MST.
According to investigators, a grey 2001 Ford Mustang coupe, driven by 42-year-old Aaron Steffens of Salt Lake City, was traveling eastbound in the right lane when, for reasons still under investigation, the vehicle veered left. The Mustang left the roadway, spun out, and rolled before coming to a stop in the center median.
Despite the efforts of emergency responders, Steffens was pronounced dead at the scene. At this time, the cause of the crash remains unclear, and the NHP’s Traffic Homicide Unit has taken over the investigation to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the accident.
Steffens’ death marks a heartbreaking loss for his family and community in Salt Lake City. Authorities have not yet released further details, but the investigation into the crash is ongoing.
