OGDEN, Utah – An inmate at the Davis County Jail was found dead Wednesday night and authorities say it was a suicide. This is the 11th death at the Davis County Jail since 2016, which prompted Davis County Sheriff Kelly V. Sparks to implement policy changes last year. The inmate, whose name was not released, was a 33-year-old male who had been at the jail for approximately four months. UTAH – The Equal Rights Amendment is returning to Utah’s Capitol Hill, reigniting a political battle. Sen. Kathleen Riebe, D-Cottonwood Heights, has introduced Senate Joint Resolution 8, which would have Utah ratify the Equal Rights Amendment. The language of the ERA states: “The right of citizens of the United States shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of sex.” As more states ratify it, the United States Congress would consider it for the U.S. Constitution.
