UTAH – Utah lawmakers will consider two bills that could change bail and sentencings for DUI drivers. House Bill 20, sponsored by Rep. Steve Eliason, would prohibit sentencing reductions for people charged with driving under the influence. It would require certain sentences to be reinstated if the person fails to complete sobriety program requirements. The measure would also create a separate offense for each person in a car, who is under the age of 16, when the driver is under the influence of drugs or alcohol. OGDEN, Utah — Ogden Mayor Mike Caldwell on Tuesday announced the city’s new police chief, pending approval by the City Council. The new chief, replacing retiring chief Randy Watt, will be Watt’s deputy police chief, Eric R. Young. Young, a 50-year resident of Ogden, was hired into the department in March of 1993.
