ST. GEORGE, Utah — Authorities are investigating the discovery of a body near the Stucki Springs Trail, just outside of St. George, on Thursday, Jan. 30. The body was found by a mountain biker who was riding along the trail around 1 p.m.
Ryan Moore, a spokesperson for Santa Clara-Ivin Fire Rescue, confirmed the discovery to ABC4.com. Due to the remote location of the scene, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue team was dispatched. Lifeflight was also called for assistance and was the first to arrive. However, despite performing life-saving measures, the individual was pronounced dead at the scene.
At this time, authorities have not released any details regarding the identity of the deceased, including their name, age, or gender. The cause of death remains unclear, and the Washington County Sheriff’s Office has taken the lead on the investigation.
The remote nature of the area posed challenges for first responders, but lifeflight was able to reach the location quickly, Moore said. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the death.
Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
