LEHI, Utah – A Lehi Police Department officer was injured in a collision with a vehicle that allegedly ran a red light on Sunday night. The incident occurred at the intersection of Triumph Blvd. and Thanksgiving Way, when the driver of the vehicle failed to stop at the red light, striking the officer’s car.
According to a statement from the Lehi Police Department, both the officer and the other motorist sustained relatively minor injuries and are currently recovering. The department expressed relief that the damage to the vehicles was not more severe, noting that the crash could have led to much more serious injuries.
“We are grateful that injuries were relatively minor for both our officer as well as the other motorist, and they are both now recovering,” the department said in its statement. “Looking at the damage to the vehicles, this could very well have caused much more serious injuries to all parties involved.”
In response to the incident, the Lehi Police Department urged all drivers to exercise increased awareness while on the road, particularly when approaching traffic signals.
The incident serves as a reminder of the potential consequences of running red lights and the importance of careful driving to avoid accidents and ensure public safety.
Investigations into the crash are ongoing, and no further details have been released regarding the condition of the other motorist. The police department has not indicated if any charges will be filed in connection with the incident.
