Ogden, UT – A hit-and-run incident on December 27th has resulted in the death of a man, with Ogden Police confirming that the victim succumbed to his injuries after being struck by a suspected DUI driver. The victim, described as a man in his 50s, was struck by the vehicle at approximately 5:31 p.m. at 20th Street and Harrison Boulevard. His identity has not yet been released.
The sequence of events began earlier in the evening when multiple reports of a suspected DUI driver were received by police around 5:25 p.m. in the area of 42nd Street and Harrison Boulevard. Officers responded quickly to the reports and began searching for the vehicle. Moments later, additional reports came in indicating that the suspected DUI driver had struck a pedestrian at 20th Street and Harrison Boulevard.
According to police, the victim was crossing at a designated crosswalk when he was hit by the vehicle. The impact caused a second vehicle to be pushed into the victim. Officers and emergency responders arrived at the scene promptly, rendering aid before transporting the victim to the hospital. Despite their efforts, the victim was later pronounced dead from his injuries.
The suspect, who fled the scene following the collision, continued driving until crashing into another vehicle at 12th Street and Harrison Boulevard. There, the driver was apprehended by law enforcement. The suspect, whose identity has not been disclosed, is now in police custody.
