SALT LAKE CITY, Utah — The Salt Lake City Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in solving the 2022 homicide of Anetupou Niualiku, who was fatally shot in the early morning hours of January 23, 2022.
At approximately 9:30 a.m. on that Sunday, officers responded to reports of a possible shooting near 130 South 800 West. Upon arriving at the scene, they found Niualiku, 50, suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite immediate life-saving efforts, Niualiku was later pronounced dead from her injuries.
Following the incident, detectives have worked diligently to gather evidence and investigate the case. They have identified a suspect vehicle, described as a white 2011-2013 Hyundai Sonata. Police believe this car may have been involved in the shooting, and they are urging the public to come forward with any information that could assist in the case.
“The community can play a crucial role in helping us bring justice to the victim and her family,” said Salt Lake City Police Department officials. “Even the smallest detail or tip can make a significant difference in identifying those responsible for this tragic crime.”
