MONTICELLO, Utah — Authorities in San Juan County are actively searching for two suspects who fled on foot after stealing a vehicle from Monticello. The San Juan Sheriff’s Office has issued a warning to residents in the area, urging caution as law enforcement continues their search for the man and woman who are believed to be on the loose near Recapture Reservoir.
According to police, the suspects abandoned the stolen vehicle on the north side of the reservoir before fleeing on foot. The incident occurred in the early hours, prompting authorities to advise those in the vicinity to avoid the area, particularly north of Blanding along Highway 191. Residents are also being cautioned not to stop for hitchhikers.
The San Juan Sheriff’s Office has requested that anyone who notices suspicious activity in the area, including around Highway 191, Monticello, or the reservoir, report it immediately. Police have promised to release additional details, including physical descriptions of the suspects, as the investigation unfolds.
