Ogden, UTAH – According to the Utah Department of Transportation, US-40 will be reduced to one eastbound (southbound) lane 24 hours a day through early August while crews complete work to replace the driving surface on the bridge over the Provo River.
As part of the project, the Utah Department of Transportation will implement a highway crossover, which will shift all traffic from the eastbound lanes into the westbound lanes while crews replace the eastbound bridge deck.
The crossover will begin as early as May 6, 2023, and is necessary to ensure the safety of drivers and construction crews.
Motorists should expect moderate to heavy travel delays on eastbound US-40 during the afternoon commute.
This is one of more than 200 highway construction projects taking place in Utah during 2023 that includes a separate concrete repair project on US-40 in Summit County which is slated to get underway later in May.
