Ogden, UT — Authorities have confirmed that a woman found dead in a residential fire on Tuesday night died as a result of suicide. Firefighters responded to reports of a fire at a home located at 4300 S. 3450 West, where they discovered the woman’s body upon entering the building to battle the blaze.
According to Weber Deputy Fire Chief David Reed, the fire was quickly extinguished, but crews faced a temporary closure of 3450 West while responding to the scene. Reed noted that no other individuals were found inside the home at the time of the incident, though two dogs were rescued from the fire.
On Wednesday, the Weber County Sheriff’s Office released a statement indicating that after reviewing evidence gathered from the scene and conducting interviews, it appeared that the woman’s death was the result of suicide. While the woman’s identity has not been disclosed, authorities have confirmed that no foul play is suspected.
The Weber County Fire Marshal’s office, along with the Sheriff’s Office, are continuing to investigate the cause of the fire. Investigators are working to determine whether it was intentionally set or if other factors contributed to the blaze.
The community is grappling with the shock of the incident, and authorities are urging anyone with information related to the fire or the woman’s death to come forward. Further updates are expected as the investigation progresses.
